Invested Leadership: Empower Your Team to Lead with Heart, by Eric Sanchez and Stacie Monahan

The case

Your culture is suffering,
and no one can tell you why.

Low morale and employee disengagement are killing efficiency. Quiet quitting is the norm. Keeping people is as difficult as finding them.

Eric Sanchez and Stacie Monahan know that in today’s marketplace, employees will leave if they are unhappy, no matter how much you pay them. Caring about your team is important, but it will take more than mere leadership to transform your organization. It will take self-aware, empathetic Invested Leadership.

Discover why being authentic isn’t enough. Learn hard truths about the importance of practicing self-awareness and being willing to change and grow. Unpack the benefits of leading with empathy, and see how empowered Invested Leadership holds the key to your success.

The method

Four moves. Repeat them.

Invested Leadership is not a challenging proposition. It’s rather straightforward. It merely requires effort and self-reflection.

01

Take inventory of yourself

Develop and cultivate self-awareness with the goal of identifying your interpersonal strengths and weaknesses, and those of everyone else on your leadership team. This is the step most leaders skip.

02

Learn how your people need to be cared for

Investigate how your employees actually need to be cared for, rather than assuming. Some people need a kick, others need inspiration, and some just need someone to be there. Often it is the same person at different stages.

03

Change what you can

Execute what you can on your own. Blind spots can be filled. Where you have the skillset, or can build it, do the work yourself and do it genuinely.

04

Partner to cover the rest

Fill the gaps by partnering with others on your leadership team who have different caring skillsets than you do. A CEO hires a CMO and a CFO. Interpersonal coverage deserves the same seriousness.

There are a variety of different ways to lead people, but innately, leadership should be about someone else.
